Using Drobo and DroboPro via USB only

For the time being we’ve got a Drobo and a DroboPro connected to two USB ports on one computer. I’ve noticed that when writing about a TB of data over a long period of time to the DPro that the Drobo seems to go offline or at least is not recognized. When the transfer is done everything seems to come back.

Has anyone run into anything like this before? Everything is up to the latest firmware.

Thanks

JJ

hmmm, does it actually go offline - i.e. not recognised by the computer and not being assigned a drive letter, or does it just stop being recognised by dashboard?

Still has a drive letter but nothing can be written to it. I try to create a directory and it fails. The dashboard stops recognizing it as well.

Any ideas?

Is it possible that the USB bus is getting overloaded somehow?

not really, it should just slow down… shouldn’t vanish!

it might be a bit of a hassle, but could you connect the drobopro via GbE ? it would be noticably faster too

Connecting via GbE will be a problem. I’ll then need to set up iscsi on the server. No worries. I’m just hoping it doesn’t happen again. We’ll see.
