upgrading from drobo 2nd gen to drobo s

Can I use a disk set from the 2nd gen drobo and use it in the drobo s without losing the data and then use ddr on the s? as I have a couple of spare drives and have only used 3 in the second gen drobo

thanks. i thought it would be ok but wanted to check. Just had my drobo firewire go bad and only get 3mb sec transfer speed and was thinking of upgrading to the S
