Machine is a 2014 Mac mini (2 x Thunderbolt 2). We clone our server 5D to a backup unit periodically, just wondering if this make any difference with regard to speed?

if you daisy chain the speed will be reduced with each device in the chain (up to 6 devices), so if you need the full speed, use the second port.
hi, also if the main serving 5d is being used for backups, while users are also trying to use it then i think it would also slow down a bit in some way, though depending on what they try to do it might not be that noticable.
