Sync Drobo FS with Drobo+Droboshare

I have just installed a Drobo FS and have a redundant Drobo (USB) and Droboshare. I have read the available papers on the use of DroboSync and they seem to be pretty conclusive in that sync can be performed only between two FS units.

What are the options for initiating sync between an FS and Drobo/Droboshare unit? Ideally I would like to do this direct rather than using a Mac utility.
