I just lost a home built RAID array, and got a drobo to get back up and running as fast as I could
My RAID array was 4TB in size, with 2.2 TB of data on it.
In my Drobo, I put 2 x 1.5 TB and 2 x 1.0 TB drives, for a total usable space of 3.15 TB.
I’m now copying over my data. The Drobo Dashboard shows that I’ve used 1.85 TB of space so far and ‘df -h’ on Linux shows I’ve used 951 GB. So, Dashboard is showing twice as much as what df shows. At this rate, I’ll never be able to fit my 2.2 TB of data on the 3.15 TB Drobo.
Anyone know what is going on?
The Drobo is connected to a Mac Mini over Firewire 800 with HFS+ formatted to 16TB (using the dashboard). Dashboard version is 1.2.4 and firmware version is 1.30
I can’t do an upgrade right now, since I’m still copying files. Can I update the dashboard without doing the firmware?
Well, since it appeared that my data wasn’t going to fit on the drive, I decided to cancel my file transfers and do an upgrade.
I upgraded the firmware to 1.3.5 and the Dashboard to 1.5.1.
Everything looks great now. Dashboard is reporting the correct sizes.
And, I’m doing my copy using rsync, so I don’t re-copy the files already transferred.
