Search for files FAST.

Is there a way I can search for files fast. Before I had a drobo-fs I use to use a program called “Everything”.

It didn’t search contents of files, but it was really fast. If I know the file name or type I can find it in less than a second.

What does drobo-fs have?

Drobo-FS doesn’t “have” anything in particular. It is a network file server. If you can find a program like “Everything” which will allow you to index and search network shares then you will be able to use that. I’m not a Windows user so I can’t help, but I bet Google can…

This may not be exactly what you wanted, but the FS does include the “find” command that you can use over SSH:

find . -name thefilename

find --help

BusyBox v1.14.2 (2009-07-29 17:47:47 PDT) multi-call binary
Usage: find [PATH…] [EXPRESSION]

The find command sounds good, but imagine it could be combined with a webserver like “Everything” has.

It allows me to open a web browser and search another computer. I imagine something similar could be developed for the drobo-fs.

To get an idea of what I am talking about, look at the second forum post by someone named David.
