osx drobo mounting as read only?

so brand new drobo s, fresh format been up for about 4 days. everything going fine, then on a system (osx 10.6.4 box via fw800) reboot, the drobo will now only mount as a read only volume. osx reports that there is an unrecoverable problem with the drobo and i should move off all data.

i’m in the process of doing this now and will then reformat. the real question is, why did the error happen in the first place?

does anyone have any similar experience or ideas? any help most appreciated

(Exactly) How’d you go about the initial format? Via Drobo Dashboard, I hope?

yup via the latest version of the drobo dashboard and it’s the latest version and the drobo has the latest firmware. sorry should have added the clarification
