No DroboAccess

I updated my Drobo to 3.5.10 [8.89.80777] and dashboard to 2.8.1 [80644] two days ago, but the new myDrobo and DroboAccess apps are still not showing up in the dashboard. I verified uPNP is enabled in my router, and I’ve restarted both the Drobo and the router. After 24 hours the apps are still not showing in my apps list.

Any idea what I’m missing? Thanx in advance.

If Dashboard isn’t seeing DroboAccess and myDrobo, then the machine you are using to run Dashboard is having problems accessing the web service hosting the DroboApps.

Is the machine running Dashboard attached to the Internet? If it is, can you check that FTP isn’t blocked by your firewall.

Cheers!

Jason

The dashboard is running on a Windows 10 machine with it’s firewall off. I have internet on that machine.

Please validate you can ping updates.drobo.com, although doesn’t sound like that’s going to be an issue.

Do you have Dashboard installed as Administrator?

Jason

Pings are fine and this is an administrator account I’m on.

Just got home from work and checked…still no previously-mentioned apps.

Still no joy. The dashboard’s “enable automatic check for updates” box is checked as well. I suppose the missing apps will find their way to me eventually.

::sigh::

Hello AzDragonLord,
We would like to get this resolved for you. Would you generate a diag and email it to: followup@drobo.com.

Thank You.
DroboMod

Email sent.

I’m having the same problem. I’ve also emailed my diagnostics. Hope this can be figured out cause I would really like to use the new features.

hi dragon,
just a thought (though if you are currently trying things out with support please follow their steps first)…

can i check if you are always using your router?
for example, what happens if you try connecting the drobo 5n directly to your windows 10 computer? (does it manage to find the new apps? - if so, it might be something in the router that is blocking incoming info somewhow?)[hr]
for egibbys:
can i check how your drobo is connected up to the computer?

The drobo is connected to a router(AP). My computer connects to that AP wirelessly.

thanks for the info,
is there any way you can temporarily try connecting the drobo directly to the computer just to see in case it is the routing?

My Drobo is connected to a Gigabit network switch in my data closet, along with all my other devices. The router is used for internet traffic only…no switching. I have never tried (or needed to in the past) to connect Drobo directly to my PC to get apps to work.

No change after plugging in the drobo directly to my computer. One thing that maybe I should mention, when I click “Check for Updates” within Dashboard I get the message “Drobo was not able to connect to the Drobo update server to check for available updates.” This issue has been going on for a few months. I have had to manually update the past 3 times. I just thought that this could possibly be related.

Same here. I’ve been doing manual updates for a while now.

I suspect the problem is that your router (or cable model) if blocking outgoing FTP access.

Can you ftp to updates.drobo.com (and at least get to the login prompt) ?

Cheers!

Jason

I used FileZilla to FTP into updates.drobo.com and it was successful. I can browse the folders with no issues.

thanks for the info earlier dragon and egi,
hopefully the logfiles can help to see how to fix the issue for you though if get a chance to try a different network cable (such as swapping one that is working elsewhere with the one that the drobo uses along its path, it might be worth a try just in case in the meantime)

I did the same thing and was also successful.

I did a TRACERT on updates.drobo.com (166.78.35.9), and it ended at a server farm in Texas. Is this the correct location? Your main office is in California, right?
