nfs1.2.8: invalid module format.

Hi,

I’m new with drobo 5N and trying to get nfs up and running.

I’ve downloaded nfs.tgz from
https://sites.google.com/a/droboports.co…-8/drobo5n
and installed it.

But it seem not to work.

The log.txt shows:

./service.sh start

more /tmp/DroboApps/nfs/log.txt

insmod: can’t insert ‘/mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/nfs/modules/nfsd.ko’: invalid module format
Illegal instruction
killall: sm-notify: no process killed
killall: rpcbind: no process killed
killall: rpc.mountd: no process killed
killall: rpc.statd: no process killed
sm-notify: killall: nfsd: no process killed
Version 1.2.8 starting
sm-notify: No hosts to notify; exiting
Illegal instruction
./service.sh: line 1: avahi-daemon: not found

I’ve not downloaded the FS-Version…

Thanks for help.

Ralf

It seems the ko file is damaged. Can you please try to reinstall it from scratch?

Hi ricardo,

as root via SSH

Within “/tmp/DroboApps/nfs/log.txt” I found the - same - messages:

insmod: can’t insert ‘/mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/nfs/modules/nfsd.ko’: invalid module format
Illegal instruction
killall: sm-notify: no process killed
killall: rpcbind: no process killed
killall: rpc.mountd: no process killed
killall: rpc.statd: no process killed
sm-notify: Version 1.2.8 starting
sm-notify: No hosts to notify; exiting
killall: nfsd: no process killed
Illegal instruction
/mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/nfs/service.sh: line 1: avahi-daemon: not found

By the way:

  • I have to create the folder DroboApps/nfs underneath /tmp manually
  • I may have started “/usr/bin/DroboApps.sh install” the very first time (weeks ago) as nonroot

Any idea how to check whats going wrong?

Gruss

Ralf

Can you please try to download the nfsd.ko file from here: https://github.com/droboports/kernel-drobo5n/releases/download/v3.2.27/nfsd.ko ?

I’m thinking the ko file got corrupted somehow.

ralfk, ricardo:

Have you been able to solve the problem? I’m experiencing the same problem. Downloaded both the nfsd.bin and the nfs.tgz several times installed both rebooting and installing from the command line, and still getting the same error:
insmod: can’t insert ‘/mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/nfs/modules/nfsd.ko’: invalid module format
Illegal instruction
killall: sm-notify: no process killed
killall: rpcbind: no process killed
killall: rpc.mountd: no process killed
killall: rpc.statd: no process killed
sm-notify: Version 1.2.8 starting
sm-notify: No hosts to notify; exiting
killall: nfsd: no process killed

Any ideas?

Thnxs.

Wait, nfsd.bin? Where did that come from?

I’ve download the file to /mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/nfs/modules .
It shows the same size.

Rebooting the drobo -> same message
“insmod: can’t insert ‘/mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/nfs/modules/nfsd.ko’: invalid module format”
in log.txt.

Gruss

Ralf

PS: Sorry for the delay. E-mail notifications from the forum seems not working.

If you are using firmware 3.2.0, you need version 1.3.2. NFSv3 1.3.2 should now be working on all platforms and firmware releases. Please download the latest version from DroboPorts: http://www.droboports.com/app-repository/nfs/
