NFS light-years faster than AFP?

I just loaded NFS on my DroboFS, and it is working splendedly!

However, it is at least 1000% faster than AFP; is that normal?

When I try to access my shares using AFP, they take a good minute just to list, let alone access. With NFS, they pop right up!

How do you make sure the Drobo FS is accessed via NFS only instead of AFP? What about Time Machine support?

You use the mount command or you put the NFS share in OS X auto mounts (under drive utility). You can use NFS for Time Machine, but it requires the same “work around” that using SMB does.

If only it wasn’t so cumbersome to use DroboApps. Maybe NFS isn’t using so much of the system resources.
