Drobo

New Drobo, can't create disc image to Time Machine

Hello all - forgive me if this is covered in another thread but I couldn’t find one that matches my situation.

I’ve set up Drobo with DroboShare to Time Capsule and am connected wirelessly to my MacBook. I’ve set Time Machine to back up to the Drobo but each time I attempt a backup I get an error message saying Time Machine Error - The backup disk image could not be created.

Does anyone know what causes this and how to solve it? I had been backing up to an external USB 2.0 drive connected to the Time Capsule and never had this issue.

Thanks!

Time Machine does not work with NAS devices. You need to use a DroboApp called “backmyfruitup”.

Time Machine does work with some NAS devices, especially if they support AFP. Doesn’t the Drobo FS support Time Machine?

Yes the Drobo FS supports Time Machine.

The DroboShare does not. You NEED a droboapp called ‘backmyfruitup’ in order to use Time Machine with the DroboSHARE.
