Most dependable PCI USB 3.0 card?

Hello -

Looks like I’ll be migrating over from a sec gen Drobo to a 5D - using a MacPro3,1. Since my machine does not have native USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt, I will be adding a PCI card for USB 3.0. Which available card seems to work the best?

I have seen some posts here and elsewhere about problems with the Sonnet Allegro (which appears to be NLA), and CalDigit FASTA - some of which seem to resolve with a change in cord. There’s also HighPoint RocketU. Others?

Appreciate any input - Thanks!

In this case, I will be of no help whatsoever.

I have an iMac, Mini, and a couple of MacBook Pro’s.

However, I would suggest you check out this thread for USB3 on the MacPro

Helpful link - Thanks!

In case anyone is looking into this subject later, the card I selected was a HighPoint RocketU 114xE. It replaced an older Sonnet card I had providing eSATA ports - the new card provides eSATA and USB 3.0.

No problems with the card - although the drivers needed to be updated after the initial installation. This is on a Mac running OS 10.8.5
