I have just installed MiniDLNA onto my Drobo thanks to Drobo Ports. I find that it particularly works well with my setup (Samsung DLNA enabled TV etc…). However, there seems to be an issue with the automatic database update feature. I understand that minidlna uses inotify to notify of any file changes but this doesn’t work. I have set inotify=yes in the conf file and still no luck. I wondered if anyone else had the same issue and if so, did they manage to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

Which version are you using?

Hmm, this is strange. I don’t have any particular advice to give to you, but what you can try is go to the help forum of minidlna here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/minidlna/forums/forum/879957

If you are feeling particularly brave you can try to recompile minidlna with this patch: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3516074&group_id=243163&atid=1121518

Thanks for your help. It is a strange problem. I will recompile the minidlna with the patch and see if that helps.

On another note, I see on the Drobo Ports that it is possible to setup git repositories on the Drobo FS. Has anyone managed to successfully do this and if so, was it easy? I have setup repositories on my local iMac before but can’t seem to get it working on the Drobo. Are there any tutorials out there to do this?

Any help would be appreciated.

This post shows how to setup git on the FS: http://www.drobospace.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=2485&pid=19230#pid19230

I have a different problem. Since upgrading to 1.0.24 my DLNA devices no longer see any of the indexed videos (shows up as empty folders). The log files show that the correct folder is being indexed and that it successfully found all of my files.

Any ideas?

You could try to force a complete reindexing. Try something like this in an SSH session:

/mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/minidlna/sbin/minidlna -f /mnt/DroboFS/Shares/DroboApps/minidlna/etc/minidlna.conf -R

Warning: this may take a while to complete.
