2011 iMac just crashed and burned.
Was using Time Machine to a dedicated share on the Drobo 5N. No problems.
Purchased a new 2019 iMac…saw user comments online to NOT use Time Machine to restore, but rather use Migration Assistant.
On the new iMac:
_Drobo Dashboard sees the 5N, and the Time Capsule share I created.
_via Finder, Network recognizes the 5N
But, when you launch Migration Assistant, it logs out of all open application and asks how to restore…I select radio button “from Time Machine backup”
Migration assistant has some spinning pinwheels looking for Time Machine, so press button that says “provide server path”
Enter path I assume is correct “afp://Drobo5N/ShareFolderName”
…obviously using the real share folder name…
Then get the dialog box which reads:
There was a problem connecting to the server “Drobo5N”
The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
Will try again with migration assistant, looking for path to server substituting “Drobo5N” with the IP address, but any further help would be appreciated.
