installing virtualbox

Hi there,

I am setting up a VM on my drobo so I can get rsync installed.
What version of virtualbox do I use?

Here are the directions I am following.

Cheers,

Noah

We have a more current VM available for cross compilation purposes

see

http://www.drobo.com/drobo-solutions/drobo-apps/droboapps-sdk/

the VM can be downloaded from ftp://updates.drobo.com/droboapps/development/Drobo.ova

Note this VM has the cross compilation toolchain already installed.

I’ve used VMWare Player to use this VM, but it should work with virtualbox too.

Cheers!

Jason

Thanks - virtualbox comes in a lot of flavors. Which do I install on my drobo?
I suppose its “Ubuntu 14.04” but is it i386 or AMD64 or something else?

How can I get rsync working on the VM and answering an rsync port? What do I need to do to the VM to get rsync working and saving to a partition on the drobo drive?

You run the VM on a PC, not on the Drobo, and the VM has the cross compilation toolchain to cross compile for the ARM processor the Drobo 5N uses.

I believe Ricardo has a port of rsync available on droboports

Cheers!
