It updated, I rebooted, and when I opened Dashboard again it offered to update my firmware, and then it wanted to update Dashboard again, this time to 2.2-something! Another install, another reboot cycle, then I opened Dashboard again. This time it didn’t offer a firmware update, and a manual check says I have latest Dashboard and firmware, despite being at 1.41 when there is a 1.42 out that two previous versions of Dashboard have offered to update me to.
Then I hit “Manual Update” and it says it’s going to update the Drobo, but doesn’t tell me what it wil update it to. Then it opens a dialog box to find a firmware file, presumably, despite not having told you what kind of file to look for. Then I go to download the firmware manually, and find that for the Mac they wrap the .tdz file unnecessarily in a .dmg disk image. This software is junk…
Last 3 or 4 times I’ve used the update feature of DD for DD & firmware and everything has gone swimmingly.
I’m not a fan of the latest version either. I use a manual IP to access my DroboFS instead of the “automatic discovery” (which used to fail often). Previously this would cause my DroboFS to pop up right away, as one would expect when it knows exactly where to go. Now it sits there for a good 30 seconds before anything shows up, and it shows the wrong capacity numbers for another 30 seconds or so, further freaking me out.
