Icon previews in Finder

I’m finding that on my drobo finder isn’t displaying icon previews for my files(mostly video). Most of them say ‘exec’ on, if select a file, the preview thumb will update eventually.

Is there a reason why drobo is so slow at generating icon previews?

How big are the video files? Are previews on pictures also slow?
