Hi
After my new drobo initialized, I opened disk manager and there was a 32MB volume, unknown filesystem, and the device size was reported as a very big negative number.
The NT eventlog reported lots of “The device, \Device\Harddisk3\DR9, has a bad block.”
I opened the volume manger on the dashboard, and there was a 2TB volume that I did not create.
- Is it normal for drobo to create a volume by itself on a clean initialize?
I deleted the volume, and created a new 16TB NTFS volume.
On clicking next the UI just disappeared, weird, so I tried again.
This time the next button worked, and I created two 16TB NTFS volumes.
The dashboard required that I enter drive letters and a FS.
- How do I get the dashboard to let me create the volume/lun and let me deal with the partition and FS setup?
On applying the volume changes the robo rebooted, the dashboard UI said waiting, waited several minutes, and never reconnected.
I eventually exited and restarted the dashboard to get it to reconnect.
After the drobo rebooted there was one new GPT table NTFS simple volume, with 128MB left on the partition.
The second volume showed up as GPT 16TB RAW, no filesystem.
Since the dashboard was unable to correctly create the volumes, it is even more important to include an option where I will do the provisioning, I just need the drobo to present the lun.
I wanted to convert the volumes to dynamic disks, but got an error that the conversion failed.
The NT eventlog reported this error “The provider encountered an error while converting the basic disk to a dynamic disk. status=C00000BB, Disk number=3”
- Does the drobo support dynamic volumes?
So to recap my questions:
- Is it normal for drobo to create a volume by itself on a clean initialize?
- How do I get the dashboard to let me create the volume/lun and let me deal with the partition and FS setup?
- Does the drobo support dynamic volumes?
