Help getting FRUPPES to work (.vob files)

Hello,

So I have FRUPPES installed and it seems to be working for a lot of my movies. The PS3 recognizes my drobo and it shows all of my folders… That’s a good start!

Here’s what I’m still having trouble with…

A lot of my movies are in uncompress DVD .vob format. When I look in the config file it looks as though these are supported. By when I browse to that folder on the PS3, it says “unsupported data type”. If I click on the file, the screen goes black and says “unsupported data type”.

On the plus side, a lot of my DivX movies are playing fine. Not bad for a days work! Can anybody help me with the rest? Here is my STATUS

* - MPEG-2 TS（H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC）
* MP4 file format
* - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC)
* MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2)
* MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM)
* MPEG-2 TS（MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AC3（Dolby Digital）, AAC LC）
* MPEG-2 TS（H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC）
* AVI
* - Motion JPEG (Linear PCM)
* - Motion JPEG (μ-Law)
* AVCHD （.m2ts / .mts）

PS3 won’t play VOB as is. I would suggest making it into an M2TS. I know this works with FUPPES and PS3 as I use it to stream full 1080p movies with DD 5.1.
There is a little playing you have to do with the file types in FUPPES.
I will post back later with my settings, in the meantime download tsMuxeR http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html drop your VOB’s in there one at a time and create M2TS files. It should take no time at all since it’s NOT transcoding it, just dropping it into a new container that the PS3 likes.

Above is the addition that was made to my cfg to enable m2ts to stream to my PS3.

I’m desparate to get m2ts streaming to my ps3 using Fruppes. Unfortunately, adding this code to the cfg doesnt seem to help. Does it need to be added in a specific place? or is there something else that i could be missing?

Did you restart the server/DroboShare after updating the config and search and find media servers on the PS3 again? You will also have to rebuild the database so FUPPES can find the new file type.
