Gen 2: one drive failing even with a new drive

Hi all,

I have an issue with one of my Gen 2’s. One of the green lights started blinking red. I changed the drive and, after it was finished syncing, the light is still blinking red. Now I’m not sure if the drive was DOA or if it’s a problem with the Drobo. How can I troubleshoot this?


hi, can i check if it was rebuilding (with the flashing yellow/green lights) for many hours (possibly about 1day per 1TB of data that you have on it), and that when (all?) of those flashing yellow/green lights finished, the replacement drive then started to itself blink red?

(it could be that the replacement drive enountered some problems and has been marked as failed) though it might be worth allowing it some more time in this state to see if it becomes solid green again, such as overnight, and to also check what dashboard can show you about the status of that that drive and bay?
