Firmware Update: How badly am I screwed?

Dashboard says there’s a firmware update 4.1.1 waiting so I update. All seems to go well vertical LEDs are green, and horizontal LEDs light up one by one… s-l-o-o-o-w-l-y. Eventually, they’re all lit, and the power light is green.

But the Drobo doesn’t show up on the desktop or in Dashboard. All other Drobos are accounted for. They too have the firmware update waiting, but I’m not taking any chances.

Restart Mac - no joy.
Power off Drobo - no joy.
Unplug/plug Drobo - no joy.
Restart Mac again - no joy.

In every instance above, the Drobe has all lights lit as would be expected. It’s still not seen on the desktop, or in Dashboard, Disk Utility, or DiskWarrior.

It it making noises every 2-4sec as though it’s accessing a drive or drives, but again, no activity or appearance on screen.

What else can I do to get that Drobo back? Can I download and revert to firmware 3.5.5? It was working well until the update.

It doesn’t look like you ever got a response to this. I just (stupidly) installed this firmware on my b810n today and have the same issue. I opened a ticket with support but i’m not holding my breath. Hopefully you’ve been successful in getting this fixed.

I’m sorry I took so long to revisit this post, but I gave up after two weeks.

You may have already found the answer - Mavericks (10.9) is not supported by that update. Drobo made no mention of this in the release notes, Connectede the Drobo to a newer OS and it woke right up just as it should.

Drobo would have saved us both a lot of hair pulling if they’d mentioned this in the release notes as any good dev would.
