I Upgraded Firmware for my FS to 1.2.6 and am no longer able to see the volume I was using for TimeMachine. I can see the Drobo in Finder and connect to shares there and see the folders. I created a new Time Machine share in the Dashboard and still cannot connect. Have rebooted both the Drobo and my Mac several times but still cannot get Time Machine to see any volume on the Drobo.
Has anyone else run into this issue and figured out a resolution?
This is covered in depth in the Time Machine thread at the top of this forum. This affects all direct attached Drobos. I use My Drobo as a NAS device and can use time machine just fine.
Short Story - All Drobo direct attached products (Drobo, Drobo S, DroboPro, and DroboElite) are fully compatible with Apple Time Machine when using Mac OS 10.6.2 and lower. Apple introduced changes in Mac OS 10.6.3 that resets the maximum size of sparse images to the size of the volume. This behavior is undesirable when used with storage devices such as Drobo storage arrays that support thin provisioning, as the reported volume size often exceeds the physical storage space available.
Data Robotics is aware of the issue and is working on firmware changes to ensure compatibility with Mac OS X 10.6.3 and higher. Until a fix is released, we do not support Time Machine on Drobo FS in a OS X 10.6.3 environment.
from what you say, it sounds like apple tried to implement a safety feature (so that a sparse image can not exceed the size of a volume - but maybe fudged the fix by not letting you specify or keep the existing settings)?
