Drobo

Fan Cycles when unit is in Standby

Just a curiosity more than anything - When my computer is off the Drobopro shuts down to standby mode. While this seems totally normal the fan does seem to cycle when in this mode - I assume it is doing this for some kind of temperature control but just wanted to verify this was a normal operation.

Yes this is normal.

Even in standby mode, the drives still generate heat. When that heat hits a certain temperature the Drobo/DroboPro will turn on the fans to cool off those drives.

Thanks - just wanted to confirm…I just liek the fact it sleeps at all - as my previous NAS was always running and loud…

What was your “previous NAS”? Why did you switch to DroboPro?
