I enabled Dual Disk Redundancy and 1) the Drobo is unusable (doesn’t even show up in the Dashboard) and 2) it’s been running for ~50 hours and not finished. I had 3TB of data which was calculated to be 4.5Tb when dual was finished. Q: is this typical behavior?
I wouldn’t think this was normal. Which Drobo are you using and what are your drive sizes?
Hi @AzDragonLord thanks for the response. Drobo5N. Four 5400rpm 2Tb and One 5400rpm 1Tb (all Western Digital Red) drives. How hazardous would it be to hard boot it?
Thanks
Wayne
So I hard booted it this morning; twice. It did wake back up, I can see it in the dashboard again, still blinking green / yellow, states that "Data Protection: in progress (approximately 27 hours remaining). If true, that would be five full days to essentially copy files internally. I’ll post results; good or bad.
Thanks
Wayne
Glad you revived it. Generally speaking it takes about one day per TB of stored data for the new protection layout.
End result: Everything appears to be fine. It took over 100 hours to run dual redundancy on three TB of data. However, I suspect that it didn’t really start until after I rebooted it. That’s when the dashboard showed access again. Then it ran down the estimation bar at over 33 hours.
