Is this normal ?

Drobo box v2
3x 2tb WD drives

2.68tb space used
1.0 tb space left

The box is at 74% capacity

The transfer speed has dropped from 25mb/s to 0.1mb/s
I would assume this is not the slow down as it reaches capacity (it is no where near 95%)

I have pulled it off the imac and put it on my laptop and the performance remains the same (both on firewire and usb)

Can anyone give me some ideas what is causing this? Is it because i transferred 2.5 tb in one go now its remapping data and is getting behind? If so how long does it take to get the performance back? At present it is unusable.

btw read performance is also very slow now 6mb/s down from 27mb/s

I would run repair disk on the volumes.

I would also check your firewire cables - I just had Drobo’s (v2) throughput drop off to nothing, and replaced all my stiff FW800 cables with LaCie’s flexible orange flat cables https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NXDQ9U/ref=oss_T15_product.

My throughput is back to its normal 10-30 MB/sec.

My thought is that since the old cables were stiff, the connectors were strained and caused intermittant or partial electrical connections through sheer physical stress.

I also put on the new 1.6.1 version of dashboard, and re-flashed the Drobo since one of the things corrected was improper firmware loads to the Drobo from the dashboard.
