Drobo S running all the time

Hello All,
I just upgraded from a Drobo (first generation) 4 bay to the Drobo S. Everything seems to be working properly and Drobo Dashboard confirms it. My concern is that it always seems to be working hard/running like it is backing up all the time and the sound it most annoying. I have it scheduled to run a backup every day at 5:00 PM and so I am familiar with it sound it makes when that happens. It sounds like it is doing the 5:00 PM backup all the time. I don’t think my Drobo (first generation) did this or if it did I certainly don’t remember it.

how long has it been?

the differnet drobos do layout their data slightly differnetly - it is probably re-organising/translating from the old drobo layout to the newer drobo s layout - i’d expect that to take up to 96 hours[hr]

Thanks for your response! It has been running for about 4 days now. Hopefully it is re-organising/translating like you suggested and it will soon normalize.

yeah

its not at all unusual for drobo to sit there chugging away doing its own thing - especially after yo uhave made a change (adding a disk / adding more data) and swapping from a v2 to an s is a pretty big change!

i woudlnt worry about it - it will settle down evenutaually[hr]
