So I had a drive failure. Rather than shutting down, the drobo produced errors. When I came to the drobo it was recycling by connecting and disconnecting from the macbook pro (yosemite). I put in a new HD but still no progress as the device keeps booting, then beginning re-syncing then shutting down (power /fans stay on) then after a bit it tries booting up. My standard warranty just expired so I’m basically waiting for tech support to respond to email or I get some help here.
Also note that the mini works fine with no hard drives in them.
Another issue is getting diagnostics according to the directions. It says wait until the lights turn red then blue but that never happens on the mini.
