I see the data sheet for the 5N states “You can even connect the Drobo 5N directly to the Ethernet port on your computer without having to configure any settings”.

My media server (Win7) has a 2nd unused NIC. How exactly does direct-attaching a Drobo5N work? Wouldn’t Windows need to serve DHCP?

I forget, i think windows does automatically if nothing else is doing it for that port? or Drobo just uses its own private IP

either way, from memory, it pretty much just plug-and-worked for me
