Drobo Dashboard v2.1.1 (Mac) install fails on Lion Server

When attempting to install Drobo Dashboard 2.1.1 on Mac OS X Lion Server v10.7.2, the installation ends abruptly with a generic failure message:

“The installer encountered an error the caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.”

This occurs BOTH on a fresh out of the box Mac system with no additional software installed (except preloaded apps) and attempting to upgrade from 2.0.5. (as 2.0.5 and lower appear to install correctly).

The only relevant console details appear to be as follows:

[quote]1/20/12 12:21:15.039 AM installd: PackageKit: Install Failed: Error Domain=PKInstallErrorDomain Code=112 “An error occurred while running scripts from the package “drobodashboardinstaller_2.1.1.pkg”.” UserInfo=0x7fca09d03ae0 {NSFilePath=./preflight, NSURL=file://localhost/Volumes/drobodashboardinstaller_2.1.1/drobodashboardinstaller_2.1.1.app/Contents/drobodashboardinstaller_2.1.1.pkg, PKInstallPackageIdentifier=com.datarobotics.drobodashboard, NSLocalizedDescription=An error occurred while running scripts from the package “drobodashboardinstaller_2.1.1.pkg”.} {

Any advice?

//not that this should matter since I can’t even complete the install, but I have a Drobo FS

We have posted Dashboard 1.2.1 on our downloads page at http://www.drobo.com/support/updates.php for all Drobo models except the gen1 and DroboShare. Make sure you’re logged in as an admin and try installing this version. If you’re still getting the script error, please open a support ticket and attach copies of the system and kernel logs and system profile.

To make a copy of the System and Kernel logs:

  1. Go to Applications > Utilities and open the Console app.
  2. Select System.log on the left, click the File menu at the top, select Save a Copy As… and save it to the desktop.
  3. Repeat step 2 for Kernel.log.

To make a copy of the system profile:

  1. Go to the Apple menu > About this Mac > More Options > File menu > Save As
  2. Save the file as a Rich Text file
