I recently got a Drobo 5N with 5x WD50EFRX-68M 5TB drives and the 128gb mSATA SSD in the Accelerator Slot. I have it it on my network but a lot of the time Plex is really really slow or won’t load the movie at all.
Is it too much for the Drobo to be running these 3 Apps at once ??
Is it too slow to play media through out my house ??
How many people should be able to stream locally ??
What format are your movies in?
The Drobo is not great at transcoding.
The formats vary - what is the best format to have them all in ??
I can’t conclusively tell you what the “best” format is as I have not tested all formats but I can tell you that I use MP4.
To give you an example, using MP4 I have a Blu-Ray rip that is 21GB for a two hour movie and it streams just fine from my 5N to an LG smart TV.
EDIT: I have just tried to stream the same file to two televisions at the same time it worked just fine
