I just came in to a very small client that has the dro4d-d device. I can’t find a manual for it anywhere, but what I really want to do is be able to access the drive externally from their network over the internet. Synology has this feature on their NAS products. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.
hi, if you want to access a DAS 4-slot drobo, one way could be this:
(am not sure how secure it would be but heres a possible way)…
- to have it plugged into a computer directly
- to have that computer map access to a folder on the drobo
- to have that computer (or another computer on their network) to serve that folder by way of a running server which can see that folder/drobo volume. possibly via sftp
- for you to use some sftp client software to connect to their service, and depending on the permissions set, you should be able to read or write to that folder.
(it probably will only work best with basic ftp functions, rather than full usual usage, but might get you what you need?)
alternatively, maybe using a remote access tool into that computer can help, possibly via a citrix plugin, or maybe to a running vm which can also see that drobo will help.
