I have a very old drobo, serial number 56 and recently purchased an FS because the old hardware was just too damn slow. Anyways It is stuck on firmware rev 1.3.7 and currently functional. I was well aware that whole disk pack migration between firmware versions is impossible so I was going to try doing it the tedious way. I pop a drive out of old ass drobo and pop it into FS and get the following error: the set of disks you have inserted are incompatible with the firmware running on your device. Ok I see how that could happen, I was sort of expecting it to format the old drobo drive. I try a quick format on the drive with a usb sata connection and get the same error, I try a low level format on the drive and get the same error. How do I restore a drive’s structure to factory new? It appears the drobo has done some goofy things to the drive but it still works with a normal computer just fine.

New problem, In the old drobo I have 2x 500gb hard drives and 1x 2tb hard drive. I need to move the 2tb over to the Drobo FS so that I can continue transferring files over (out of space on the one 2tb in the FS. On the old drobo I have 422gb which is below the safe available space for just 2 500gb drives yet it still shows my data as being unprotected and thus I am unable to pull out the 2tb. Why is it not recognizing this? I don’t have enough extra storage to dump 422gb on in the mean time.

I’ve gotten it down to 377gb and yet it hasn’t gone into a data safe mode. I can hear the read/write arms chattering around so I assume it is still doing stuff. It’s been nearly 24 hours without change.
Nevermind, It seems to be getting it’s shit in order, orange/green flashing
