CrashPlan on the DroboFS

Executive summary: I got the CrashPlan ( http://www.crashplan.com ) client running on the DroboFS. Pics here: http://imgur.com/a/XvKQE

I think this is probably the final answer to online backups for the FS. As far as I can tell, their unlimited plan runs 50 $/year, which is probably the cheapest option out there.

Their software is pretty good too, it allows free backup from client to client, meaning that if you have two Drobos you can backup one onto the other.

As far as I can tell, it runs pretty smoothly, using only 54 MB of RAM and never pegging the CPU, despite being Java based.

Anyone interested? :stuck_out_tongue:

Interested? Understatement of the year.

I thought so. Setting up this thing is a bit complicated, so I’m doing my best to make it as painless as possible. It should appear on the DroboApps forum soon enough.

Crashplan is working out great for me. I have the $120 unlimited plan for 2 to 10 computers. It works perfectly for what I want, you can back up to local drives, other computers at your place or across the Internet, and to their cloud too.
