Can't transfer files via ethernet.

Hi,

I’m new to drobo and not overly computer savvy so please forgive any ignorance.

I have 8TB of files to transfer and 2.5 MBps max wifi transfer speed.
I want to connect my drobo directly to my computer and transfer files via ethernet,
only problem is I have no access when it’s directly attached.

drobo attached to router = visible on dashboard & computer

drobo attached to computer = visible on dashboard only

Is this possible or am I trying to do something stupid out of ignorance.

I have…
drobo 5N
Sony VAIO
Windows 8.1

It should be possible. When connected to the computer directly, from the Drobo Dashboard click on Shares, then check on the checkbox to mount your desired share. You should be able to access your shares then.

When I try to mount shares with the drobo attached directly I get this error message…

“drobo dashboard could not mount this share”

Can anybody shed some light on this?

Is it possible to transfer files directly to the drobo 5N via ethernet?

Try a reboot of your Mac, then a reboot of your Drobo and see whether this helps.
