Adding SSDs to an HD only B1200i

Can anyone outline the procedure for adding SSDs to a B1200i to get the SSD tiering feature going? A client has a B1200i with 7 4TB HDs in it now (in bays 0-6). They want to get three SAS SSDs for tiering, and documentation says those need to go in bays 0, 1, & 2). To add those do i:

1. Shut down the Drobo, move the drives in 0, 1, & 2 over to 7, 8, & 9

or 2) move the drive in 0 to 7, wait for it to catch up, then 1 to 8, etc.

Then insert the SSDs in 0, 1, & 2?

Or is there some other method? I can’t find any documentation on this, and Drobo support won’t answer my questions without an in warranty device.

The SSDs can be added in any slot. There’s no need to shutdown or move drives around.

Can you point me at the documentation that talks about using slots 0-2… its in error.

btw i think ive also seen some pages in the past which explained ssd features, which had the ssds in the first few slots, (though the picture was probably from an ease of explanation perspective as it was very quick and easy to see a few ssds on one side, with regular drives in the other)
