hi can i check if you are using a particular program for those files or folder?
or do you know a way to find out which program created those folders or what dates the files have?

for exampe, are they older files and folders that were created in the past, but have recently been renamed?
or are they newly created files and folders, having those names?

there might be a way to narrow it down to see if a particular action or program is causing it?

check your folder name “para monic progs” and see if there is a spacing at the end of the word “progs”. If yes, rename it by removing the spacing and see if that helps.

thanks for the reply guys.

“or do you know a way to find out which program created those folders or what dates the files have?”
folders made on finder.

“are they older files and folders that were created in the past, but have recently been renamed?”
Out of the blue. Recently renamed. Second time in the week.

“…para monic progs” and see if…"
Good practice, but I would have to made that change on all the folder and subfolders. Will take ages.

hi, if sebastians suggestion of removing a trailing space can fix things for you, then maybe a tool such as kenrename can help. ive tried that on windows, but maybe it supports mac or a siimilar tool exists.

(just make sure you try it out on a copy of some files and folders, to fully understand how it works, before you fully automate anything).

There’s Quick File Renamer, available from the Mac App Store.

Anibalin - did you find a solution to this problem? We have a similar situation with folder names on our Drobo D800fs. Originally the problem only appeared when accessing from one computer, but now other computers are following suit…

Hi Sebastian,

I’m not sure what you mean by para monic progs?

None of our folders contain any strange characters or spaces at the beginning or end…

Those filenames look like what Windows creates as an 8-character version of long filenames (six characters, tilde, character). Is something connecting via SMB, and are any Windows clients involved?

Has anyone figure this out. I am having same issue. now in 2020. Has Drobo acknowledge this issue
