3TB drive you would use in the Drobo S

After checking here, http://www.droboworks.com/Choose-Drives.asp, I am considering different 7200rpm drives for my DroboS. I had two Hitachi CoolSpin which are 54 or 5900rpm. Please tell me what you are using and what works best:

Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000, 3TB
Hitachi Ultrastar A7K3000, 3TB
Western Digital Caviar Green, 3TB, 64MB Buffer
Seagate Constellation ES.2, 3TB
Seagate Barracuda XT, 3TB

Thanks for your answers in advance.

I have been using 5x WD Green since about six month ago. Working well so far.

I have 4x Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000, 3TB in mine - have had for a few months now - hasn’t skipped a beat (so far…).

I have two 3TB WD Green’s and 3 2TB WD Green’s in my Drobo S.

I have had good experiences with these.

never had a non-WD drive in my Drobo. I’ve had good experiences with WD and thus just stick with them. I’ve had smaller WD Blue and WD Black drives in it though.

hi yoyoma, you probably know my setup already…as sig below.
but, with the good experiences with WD so far, i’d be looking to get WD 3tb ones for when the time comes.

(i still have to get through my 4x1tb upgrade project into 4x1.5tb first though)

Hi Everyone,

I am kinda partial to Hitachi 7200rpm, been using them with success in Drobo v2. Bennaminthanks for the input. I plan on using Deskstar7K300 3T&2T in my DroboS. But, it is good to see that the WD are working fine, contrary to DRI removing their official support for them.
Using 7200rpm didn’t work out too well in my older Drobov2, due to heat and unnoticeable speed improvement(slower processor). I switched them out to Seagate Barracuda LP, 5900rpm. They worked just as well, and ran cooler- less fan noise.[hr]
onicon -are those 3TB?
