Hello All… I’ve had my 2nd Gen Drobo connected to my late 2008 iMac via FW800. All my media is stored on the Drobo. Will I be able to simply disconnect my drobo from my iMac and connect it to a new PC via USB 2.0 and have access to all the data? Thanks in advance
No, not natively. Mac and Windows both use different file systems. By default, Mac uses HFS and Windows uses NTFS. I think there are some third party drivers which at least allow reading of HFS volumes on Windows but I can’t help you any further with that.
http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive has been the ‘go-to’ solution for Mac to PC for years.
That being said…do not use it as a long-term solution for your Drobo. Use it long enough to get everything copied off, re-format the Drobo and copy it back.
Thank you both for the help… Really appreciate it.
